VIP programme: perks priced in turnover

A loyalty programme rewards volume: the more you stake, the higher your level and the more perks you unlock — extra cashback, personal bonuses, faster payouts, a dedicated manager. How Irwin's programme is set up today is in the operator's terms. What we offer is a simple way to judge any VIP scheme: convert each perk into euros and compare it with the turnover required to earn it.

Pricing a level

Suppose a level needs €8,000 of turnover in a month and adds 4% cashback paid as real money. On slots returning about 96%, the expected loss on that turnover is about €320, and 4% of it comes back as roughly €12.80 (illustrative example, not an Irwin term). The perk is real; it just returns a small slice of what it costs to earn.

Managers and personal offers

A VIP manager works for the operator. Their job is to keep you playing, so offers that arrive after a losing streak or a break are standard practice. If calls and emails with bonuses become pushy, you are entitled to opt out of marketing. And if you notice that VIP status has become a reason to play more, set a deposit limit or take a break.

When a loyalty scheme is genuinely useful

VIP status and responsible play

The higher the level, the larger the sums — and the more important control tools become. Deposit and time limits work at every level. If play is getting out of hand, contact the helpline in your country or Gambling Therapy, and consider self-exclusion; see our responsible gambling page. Comparing VIP perks with plain cashback before chasing a level is time well spent.

VIP programme questions

How are loyalty points earned?
Usually through bets: a set amount of turnover earns one point, and different games may earn at different rates. The rate and the exchange rules are in the operator's programme terms.
Should I play more to reach the next level?
No. The perks of a level are almost always worth less than the expected loss on the turnover needed to reach it. A level is a pleasant side effect of normal play, not a goal.
Can my level drop?
In many programmes levels are recalculated each period and fall if activity drops. Check whether that rule exists — it is often what prompts players to 'catch up' on turnover at the end of the month.
