Refer a friend: conditions for two people
A referral programme rewards you for bringing new players to a casino. Its rules always have two sides: what the invited person must do, and what you receive in return. Whether Irwin runs such a programme right now, and what it pays, is shown in the operator's account area. Here we explain the mechanics and the pitfalls that turn up in schemes of this kind.
What the invited player usually has to do
| Condition | Why the operator wants it | What to keep in mind |
|---|---|---|
| Sign up via your link or code | To attribute the new player to you | A sign-up without the link usually does not count |
| Pass ID verification | To rule out fake accounts | The friend must be an adult living in an allowed country |
| Deposit or wager | To confirm a real, active player | Your friend spends their own money — talk about that honestly |
| Do it in time | To limit the promotion period | Late completion may mean no reward |
Reward: cash or bonus
A reward paid in cash can be withdrawn. A reward paid as a bonus has its own playthrough. For example, a €25 reward with 20x wagering means €500 of turnover (illustrative example, not an Irwin term). On slots returning about 96%, the expected cost of that turnover is around €20, so a bonus-form reward mostly disappears into the wagering it requires.
Risks that rarely get mentioned
- Linked accounts. A shared address, device or payment card can trigger a multi-account block.
- Posting the link. Some rules forbid sharing referral links on social media or websites.
- Friendship. If your friend loses more than intended, the reward is unlikely to have been worth it.
Referring responsibly
Gambling is not for everyone. Never invite anyone under 18, anyone who has struggled with gambling before, or anyone who has self-excluded. If someone close to you seems to be losing control, point them to the helpline in their country or to Gambling Therapy. More on our responsible gambling page.
Checking that a referral has been counted
The programme area usually lists the people you invited and the status of each: registered, verified, condition met. If your friend has met the condition but the status does not change, note the registration date and contact the operator's support. Remember that the reward follows the same rules as any other bonus — see the general bonus terms guide.
